As we begin this section, it is important to make sure that there is a shared definition of what it means to be a professional. In order to begin your journey towards your vision of a Professional Trainer it is important to understand the terms. Take a moment to carefully read the definitions below.
Professionalism
The conduct, aims, or qualities that characterize or mark a profession or professional person.
Profession
A calling requiring specialized knowledge and often long and intensive academic preparation.
Professional
Conforming to the technical or ethical standards of a profession.
Effective trainers practice professionalism! As a Trainer, you will be evaluated by participants based on their perceived image and their definition of a professional, in the Early Childhood field. While you cannot always know or adhere to everyone’s individual views of a Professional, there are a set of standards for trainers. The Kentucky Standards of Training for Early Childhood Professionals offers professional standards and guidelines for trainer knowledge, skill, and delivery.
