Now that you are familiar with Steps 1, 2, and 3 of Developing a Training Plan, you are ready to put what you have learned into practice.
In your FET ?handout, (pg.7) you will find a blank Needs Assessment. This Needs Assessment is a useful planning aid to help you think through and plan your training. It will assist you in processing what information you want, from who, how, etc. Please have a blank copy available to use for an activity you will engage in soon.
You may or may not be asking these questions to the Director, however, please keep in mind that it is important to keep the Director informed at all times.
When creating a Needs Assessment it is better to be more specific rather than asking general questions. For example: “What do you want to know about the Learning Environment?” is a very general question. A more specific question would be: “What do you want to know about arranging a toddler room?”
To begin your practice, please watch the following video of a trainer conducting a Needs Assessment with a Director.
After you have watched the video, please fill out “7 Steps of the Training Plan Form” found in your?handout (pg. 8). Watch the video as many times as you need to complete.
