Bluegrass, where Kentucky gets its nickname as the bluegrass state, is actually green. In the spring, bluegrass produces bluish-purple buds that look blue from far away.

Middlesboro is the only city in the United States to be built inside a meteor crater.

With 90,000 miles of river, Kentucky has the second most miles of river in a state. Alaska is number one.

Between December 1899 and February 1900, Kentucky had four different governors.
