Let’s start by discussing how you can use “on demand video” to support staff learning.
On demand video is previously recorded video hosted online using a media server or video sharing service. There are video sharing websites like YouTube.com and TeacherTube.com where videos are posted and shared.
You are able to look up videos on these sites, or use video search engines like google.com/video to search across all video sharing sites.
In your handout pages 3-4, we have started a list of websites you can find videos.
Let’s talk now about two ways you can use OnDemand video.
Enhance New Staff Orientation, In-Service Training and/or Staff Meetings
Just-in-Time Learning
Take a minute to fill in the blanks in your handout, top of page 3.
When it comes to demonstrating developmentally appropriate practices, a picture is worth a thousand words. In this session, administrators will learn how to create video clips and talking pictures that can be used to: 1) demonstrate best practices; 2) strengthen effectiveness of classroom observation and staff coaching; and 3) expand opportunities to document children’s learning and share with families.
Participants will also learn how to incorporate their own media as well as free online videos into staff orientation and ongoing, in-house professional development.
Outcomes
By the end of the session, participants will:
Describe 4 ways to use media to build staff competency.
Identify online videos that can be incorporated into in-service training.
Support is available by using the Contact Us button on the bottom of every page.
