Lesson 3: Authority to Operate

Authority to Operate

The authority to operate is bundled into three different categories:

Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS)

Laws that spell out the foundation of program requirements.

Kentucky Administrative Regulations (KAR)

Legal operation of a program that defines how the KRS is carried out.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

The process (interpretation of the KRS and KAR) that further defines how the program operates to eliminate as much gray area in the law as possible.
