Informal conversations are conversations between people that are more relaxed and do not typically follow a defined plan. Because the conversations are more relaxed families and teachers are typically not “tough” conversations. It is also a great way to build relationships with families and a way to get to know each other on a more individual and personal level.

Informal conversations are important, but during some of these conversations, we may be distracted by the needs of other parents or children. It is important to set aside a time when you can discuss developmental or assessment-related questions in a more formal meeting such as a conference.
